The daily passenger quota under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) By Land to Singapore will be increased from 2,160, to 3,420 passengers starting March 14.
This will allow more fully vaccinated people to travel to the republic without being subjected to quarantine, and other related requirements.
“This announcement follows the previous increase of capacities from 50 per cent to 100 per cent on Feb 16,” said Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
The sale of bus tickets for the additional daily quota will start tomorrow.
“Malaysia’s designated bus operator will continue to operate the VTL By Land to Singapore from the Larkin Terminal in Johor Bahru,” Wee said.
“Passengers will still be subjected to existing VTL By Land travel requirements, including the pre-departure tests (PDT) and on-arrival tests (OAT).”
Wee pointed out that while Malaysia will transition to the endemic phase on April 1, the nation’s VTL By Land agreement with Singapore remains in effect.
“It is a bilateral agreement between both governments to continue to ensure better safety for land travel to, and from, the Causeway,” Wee said.
“This arrangement is being jointly reviewed by the respective authorities of both countries ahead of any future announcements.”
Malaysia’s transition to the endemic phase, beginning April 1, will see many rules relaxed. This includes unrestricted travel between states for fully vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, and the opening of the nation’s borders.
However, several requirements like the wearing of face masks in public and crowded areas, physical distancing, and checking in at indoor areas via MySejahtera, will remain.
