Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk: All you need to know

Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk Fun Run 2018

It’s barely 24 hours before the inaugural Sila Lari, Jangan Duduk Fun Run 2018 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.

You will be running among familiar faces, including Olympic Council of Malaysia president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, former national hurdler Moh Siew Wei, renowned journalists Datuk Ahirudin Attan (of the Rocky Bru fame), Datuk Nuraina Samad and Frankie D’Cruz and representatives from Istana Negara led by its public relations officer, who is also the palace’s sports and welfare club president, Husni Yusop.

Football Association of Malaysia general secretary Stuart Ramalingam will lead eight other officials.

AmBank Group’s executive vice president group corporate communications and marketing, Syed Anuar Syed Ali will join 158 runners from the bank.

Here’s a guide of what to expect, compiled by our friends at the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletics Association (FTKLAA).

When and where do I collect my bib and T-shirts?

TODAY! Head over to the FTKLAA office at 2nd floor, Wisma OCM, Jalan Hang Jebat, Kuala Lumpur.

The office will be open from 10am to 6pm. The friendly FTKLAA staff will also hand over guidelines including the route and other related information.

At what time do I need to be at Padang Merbok tomorrow?

6.50am. Runners should assemble at the starting point where they will be briefed by FTKLAA officials. There will be a short welcome speech (and we mean SHORT) followed by a warm-up session by Olympian and former national hurdler Noraseela Khalid. The race will start at 7.30am.

What do I need to bring?

A pair of comfortable shoes and a great attitude. Remember, this is a fun run so don’t forget to smile and laugh. Everyone’s a winner in our eyes!

Where should I park my vehicle?

There’s ample parking space with just a short walk to the venue. You can park at:

  • Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s public car park opposite Bukit Aman’s main entrance.
  • near Bank Rakyat
  • near Tugu Negara
  • near the Public Works Department (JKR) building at Jalan Sultan Salahuddin.

Will there be water stations?

Yes. There will be a water station at the start of the race and in the middle of the 5km route, thanks to our friends from F&N Beverages. At the end of the race, you can refresh yourself with hot or cold TrueStart Coffee.

Can I walk instead of run?

Sure! It’s all about making an effort to sweat it out and have fun. Complete the 5km route by 9am and you will receive a finisher’s medal and a certificate. Take your time.

Will there be medical personnel?

Yes. There will be medical personnel complete with an ambulance.

If I need to run to the toilet …

Fret not, Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s toilet is located at the start and finish line.

What happens after the race?

Thanks to our friends from Kuckreja & Co, ONE Championship and Rantau PR, there will be a lucky draw with 40 prizes, including official Rugby World Cup 2019 balls, two limited edition hockey sticks, tickets for ONE: Destiny of Champions next month and a Philips Viva Collection all-in-one cooker.
