The first batch of the Pfizer-Biontech Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in the country on Feb 21 and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be the first to receive the vaccine.
Speaking at the launch of the guidebook for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Plan today, Muhyiddin said the programme will be rolled out on Feb 26.
The immunisation programme will be in three phases – Feb 26 to April 2021 (phase one), April to August (phase two) and May to February 2022 (phase three).
Details on the immunisation programme and the handbook are available on www.vaksincovid.gov.my which was also launched by Muhyiddin today.
The first 500,000 people who will receive the vaccination in the first phase will comprise frontliners, including healthcare workers from both the public and private sectors, and those in the essential and security services.
A total of 9.4 million people will receive the vaccine in the second phase. They include those in the healthcare, essential and security services as well as people aged 65 and above, high-risk groups suffering from chronic ailments such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure, and people with disabilities.
The 13.7 million people targeted in the third phase, comprise those aged 18 and above (citizens and non-citizens).
The public can register for the vaccination programme through the MySejahtera app, at public and private healthcare facilities or log on to vaksincovid.gov.my.
There will also be an outreach programme for registration in rural areas and a hotline number will also be announced soon.

MCO EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 4
The Movement Control Order (MCO) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang which was slated to end on Feb 19 has been extended until March 4.
However, the 10km travel restriction has now been lifted.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said all other states in the country except for Perlis will be placed under Conditional MCO until March 4.
Perlis has been placed under Recovery MCO.
