Malaysia, Philippines agree to recognise respective Covid-19 vaccine certificates

Malaysia and the Philippines will now recognise the Covid-19 vaccination certificates from the respective countries.

Wisma Putra, in a statement today, said this would allow travellers from Malaysia, vaccinated in the country, to enter the Philippines by showing proof of their vaccination history via the MySejahtera mobile application.

Individuals from the Philippines would also be allowed to enter Malaysia if they showed their vaccination certification, via VaxcertPH.

The decision was made by Malaysia and the Philippines yesterday.

However, entry into other Southeast Asian nations was subject to the quarantine procedures by the local authorities.

Both nations also agreed to continue working on the verification of the authenticity of the vaccine certificates through a safe and secure online system to facilitate travellers entering the respective countries.

Several Malaysian and foreign nationals were stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila over the weekend after they were barred from entering the Philippines for official and business reasons. This, despite them having proof of their vaccination certificates, as reflected in their MySejahtera mobile application.
