Kind, selfless Malaysians to be recognised, rewarded in Muhibbah Awards

Everyday individuals, groups, and organisations that best personify the true spirit of muhibbah in Malaysia are set to be recognised through the National Press Club of Malaysia (NPC)-Macrokiosk Muhibbah Awards.

NPC president Datuk Ahirudin Attan said the club strongly felt it was time to recognise and reward “big deeds by small people to create goodwill” that embodies the spirit of muhibbah.

“NPC is represented by members from a cross-section of media establishments. The spirit of muhibbah is what holds us together, both in the club, and as a nation,” said Ahirudin.

He said many selfless acts over the years, and even in recent times, have gone unrecognised.

“It’s time that we recognise and reward kindness. We hope this award series will result in our society, and our country, becoming stronger, more resilient, and united,” he said.

Ahirudin added the award will be presented to six recipients in the next six months. He added that in the spirit of Malaysia Madani, the NPC hopes to get Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on board to meet the six recipients of the NPC-Macrokiosk Muhibbah Awards.

Launched at the NPC’s clubhouse in Jalan Tangsi, Kuala Lumpur last night, the NPC-Macrokiosk Muhibbah Awards is set to see winners (individuals/organisations) take home a cash prize of RM2,000.

The award’s main sponsor is Macrokiosk, an enterprise solutions platform company headquartered in Asia, with 12 offices throughout the globe, serving customers in 37 countries.

The winners will also receive vouchers and gift cards from top regional lifestyle tea brand Tealive, supermarket chain Jaya Grocer and yogurt franchise brand llaollao.

Macrokiosk chief executive officer, Datuk Kenny Goh, hopes this award will inspire more people in Malaysia to live together in the spirit of muhibbah.

“We hope to promote goodwill and friendship, to care for one another, irrespective of colour or creed, through this award,” said Goh.

“We hope to award anyone living in Malaysia, be it Malaysians or foreigners, who have been extending a hand to others in their hour of need.”

Also present at the launch was Carol Wee, vice president brand and strategy of Loob Holding.

Founded in 1948, the NPC has over 300 members. It is a non-profit organisation that organises talks, workshops, and social events for media practitioners in the country.

The public are also invited to be a part of this project. They can send their nominations to muhibbah@macrokiosk.com or WhatsApp https://chat.whatsapp.com/K739FdIOnqCCti0aOGnFFv

Separately, the NPC held its 31st annual general meeting last Friday. Ahirudin retained the presidency for the third consecutive term.

Twentytwo13 managing editor Pearl Lee was elected as assistant secretary, while Twentytwo13’s executive editor Graig Nunis, and senior copy editor Haris Hussain were elected as committee members.
