Nemanja Vidic is ready to coach and dreams of managing Manchester United.
The former Red Devil received his coaching badge several months ago and is ready to start a new career in the dugout, but for now, he is enjoying chilling out with his children.
“Obviously I want to return to football (after retiring three years ago). That is why I took the course (to earn his licence) and completed the task four or five months ago,” said Vidic.
“The dream is to manage a big club one day – Manchester United for sure – but for now, I’m just happy to spend time with my family.”
“I may have to start with a smaller club but ultimately I want to manage big clubs,” said Vidic who played in the Maybank Championship pro-am with former Barcelona and Liverpool player Luis Garcia on Tuesday.
For now, Vidic is throwing his full support behind interim coach and club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian was appointed caretaker boss on Dec 19, 2018, following the sacking of Jose Mourinho and has done a remarkable job of turning the club around.
He has led the club into the quarterfinals of the Champions League and up to fifth in the English Premier League.
Fans have demanded he be given the job permanently but may have to wait until the end of the season for that to happen.
Vidic, however, doesn’t see that as a problem.
“I like him. He has done a fantastic job since he came in. He has brought attacking football back to Manchester United,” said Vidic, who won five league titles with the club in eight seasons.
“The environment seems better and the players have improved their form under him. I see from the outside that maybe the club wants to make the decision only at the end of the season.
“I’d like him to remain manager at Manchester United. He knows the club, the history and the type of football we must play and it will be good to retain him.”
