Dear Diary,
It was a lazy Sunday spent watching re-runs of Clint Eastwood movies.
One positive – if you can call it that – of the Movement Control Order (MCO) is that I have finally cleared the backlog of recordings on the Astro box of shows from before 2020.
But I still have another 50ish-hours of shows – especially westerns – to clear. It might be easy as there seem to be many repeats now.
The best news of the day is there are no new deaths from Covid-19, the second time this has happened since MCO began on March 18.
Here’s how Day 40 of MCO unfolded.

10.05am: GRISLY – Britain’s Covid-19 death toll exceeds 20,000 with Prime Minister Boris Johnson is ready to resume work tomorrow after recovering from the disease. Global fatalities top 200,000 while the number of cases will exceed three million tomorrow. The US has the most deaths (53,511) and cases (936,293).

1.19pm: IN A RUSH – Singapore races to build bed space in exhibition halls and other temporary facilities for Covid-19 patients as cases surge to 13,624 after 931 detected today.
2pm: U-TURN? – Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says allowing inter-state travel is not “straightforward” as many factors must be considered before allowing people to return to the city from their kampung. Those wanting to travel have until May 1 to apply.
Tertiary institution students stuck in dorms and near their places of study will still be sent home. Those whose homes are in red zones will be given the option of staying with relatives instead.
He adds Malaysians returning from Singapore must get approval from the High Commission of Malaysia before they are allowed back in.
Veterinaries can also open during MCO but only for cases with appointments.
3pm: MOTIVATION – Came across this tweet. Amazing.
Stuck inside with nothing to do? One Russian man used that time to complete an ultra-marathon by running around his bed for more than 10 hours.

4.33pm: NO DEATHS – For only the second time since MCO began, there were no new deaths from Covid-19. There are 38 new cases, taking the total to 5,780. One hundred patients were discharged, making it 3,862 people cured of the disease.
5pm: PHYSICAL DISTANCING – With Season 2 of the Mandalorian confirmed for October, here’s an important reminder from him of what we must STILL practise even when MCO is lifted.
6pm: FISTFUL OF DOLLARS – One of my favourite theme songs.
