Following the success of the RHB Shimano Highway Ride @ LEKAS, banking giant RHB is gearing up for another cycling event this year – the RHB Langkawi Ride.
RHB Banking Group managing director Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said the event, scheduled for April 13, will allow cyclists to test their endurance on the island’s challenging yet scenic routes.
“We are confident this event will gain popularity among local and international cycling enthusiasts, particularly youths.
“We also hope this will inculcate an appreciation for nature and the outdoors.”
The ride is expected to attract 1,200 local and international cyclists for three categories – the 100km Eagle Ride, 75km Heritage Ride and 25km Adventure Ride.
The 100km Eagle Ride covers 18 attractions around the island from Eagle Square to Langkawi Ferry Harbour. This route has several categories: Men and Women’s Open (for those aged 18 and above), Men’s Veteran Open (for those aged 45 and above) and Corporate Team (men and women aged 18 and above).
The 75km Heritage Ride spans 14 interesting spots that include Langkawi Lucky Temple, Wildlife Park, Black Sand Beach, the famous Gunung Raya and the legendary Mahsuri tomb, among others. This route has two categories: Men and Women’s Open (for those aged 18 and above) and Men’s Veteran Open (for those aged 45 and above).
The 25km Adventure Ride, which is open to those aged 13 and above, is a fun ride that starts at Eagle Square and ends at Ferry Harbour.
