Fox Sports Asia closes, but F1, MotoGP fans in Malaysia will still get to watch races

Formula One and MotoGP fans in Malaysia will still get to watch their favourite drivers and riders in action despite Fox Sports Asia pulling the plug.

Twentytwo13 learnt that efforts have been made to ensure Astro continued airing the races, without additional charges to its customers.

An announcement regarding the matter is expected to be made “soon”.

There are eight more F1 races left in the 2021 season. As for MotoGP, there are five more races to go before the calendar concludes.

Sports fans in the region were left in the dark after Fox Sports Asia owner Disney announced it would shut down the sports channels.

Besides F1 and MotoGP, the other sporting events aired over Fox Sports Asia channels were tennis tournaments like the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

The fate of Fox Sports Asia’s local staff in Kuala Lumpur remains unclear.
