More than two weeks after devastating floods hit several states, many families are still struggling to make ends meet.
Determined to help the flood victims, a group of food and beverage entrepreneurs calling themselves FnBulous prepared over 1,000 meals late last month.
Today, they will deliver another 1,000 meals besides brownies, biscuits, bread, drinks and canned food.
The group will split into two shifts – 10am until noon and the second at 4pm.
They will also distribute soap, detergent, toothpaste and toothbrushes, rice cookers and kettles.
The group has not forgotten pets, as they have pet food for cats and dogs.
Seet Wai Song of Chef On Wheels said FnBulous (pronounced Fabulous) comprised 200 volunteers from the food and beverage industry who wanted to help the flood victims.
“I am part of an F&B WhatsApp chat group. The moment the floods hit, we started discussing how we could help,” said Song, FnBulous’ coordinator.
“Besides cooked food and drinks, we also have telekong (for Muslim women) and prayer mats, school bags, drinking and mineral water and much, much more.”
Song said the response to FnBulous’ outreach programme was overwhelming.
“We have plenty of items for tomorrow. If we feel there is a need, we might do a third round to help the victims,” said Song.
“As usual, Malaysians have come together to help each other.”
Song said a member of the group volunteered his house as a centre for the distribution of the items.
